December and everything’s crazy

Finally! Five minutes to write something on my dearly neglected blog. Just been soooo busy with a lot of things that even a few minutes to write something here had become impossible.
Second semester has already started and being inside the classroom is quite the breather that I need. What can I say? I think I love being a student more. The department had difficulty offering the one core course that I needed for my MA so I ended up taking “Sex and Culture” as a cognate course. I just hope they would give me credit for that. I’ve got a great professor and great classmates. (One of whom is Sir Bot Jocano. It’s really crazy if you have a former professor as a classmate inside the class.)
I don’t really know if I should totally detest what happened since not being able to take that one core course means that I still have to struggle with my Master’s degree for a minimum of another year and a half. Yeah. Just about the time when the rest of my friends are graduating their medical and law degrees.
Why do I feel like I’m getting left behind? And financially, I’m not any better than I was when I graduated college. Being lawyers and doctors, I’m sure they’d pull in the big bucks so I’m not quite sure if I should find any solace when they tell me, “At least you’re earning.”
Oh well.

At least I got to scratch out one measly item off of my list. I have finally got me a car. Nothing too fancy. It’s even older than our old (and former) Corolla. It’s a 1992 Nissan Sentra. Totally not the budget car I hoped it to be. First, since Nissan parts are like gold compared to Toyota’s brass. Second, it chugs gas like hell.
I can go swanky and claim that this car came from blogging alone but that would do my financial acrobatics and other sources of income. Besides, it’s really a project car that we intend to feature on Autojab.

The sad thing is that I’m spending quite a sum getting it to a nothing-to-fix status. While that would mean a lot of content for Autojab, it means that I have to put in a lot of time and money to get this in a showroom-worthy condition. Right now, I’m even dealing with issues with the engine control system (damn cars and computers!). Haha. But well, I might be in for the long haul.

It’s December and for my dear friends, they all know why the end of the year is my time of the year. Anyway, it’s not really because of the Christmas vacation or even the Christmas bonus (The thing with working freelance is that, you don’t get to earn thirteen-month pays. Boo!). It’s just that in two weeks’ time… Haha.

Advanced. I might not have the chance to greet you, since I am not in Manila.
