Avs to Take on Red Wings

Damn, it’s when you have two conference giants that make a good playoff series. Compound that even more when they’re rival teams who have had a great history and historic matches. So is the case with the Western Conference semifinals of the NHL with my Colorado Avalanche facing the Detroit Red Wings.
Might be tough for Colorado who’s 6th in the conference to take on the top dog in the West. Tougher even if Colorado comeback center Peter Forsberg will be out of commission for Game 1 due to a groin injury. The Avs have struggled with their offense in the series versus the Wild and having Forsberg scratched from the roster would definitely hurt their chances especially since the Red Wings isn’t lacking in both offense and defensive talent.
Pavel Datsyuk is scary even with a sub-100-point season (97). They have two top-quality netminders in Dom Hasek and Chris Osgood. Will definitely be tight for Colorado, but I’m still cheering them on.
