Burn, baby! Burn!

Twist StepperSave for November of last year when I purchased a beat-up car, this month has got to be my most expensive month in cumulative expenses. Not that I’m complaining, it’s so just not me to spend close to not saving a single centavo of my earnings.

Anyway, I’ve been hankering about getting back into shape this year. I started the year out with a 1400-calorie-a-day-diet and 30 minutes of basketball everyday. That made me lose 10 lbs in 10 weeks. Since I’ve been going about it on my own with no supervision from a dietitian, I was diagnosed with iron deficiency anemia, apparently, due to my lack of meat. Ever since then, I started to up my calorie intake - the side-effect of which was that I started to balloon again.

That worried me since I’m trying to be really conscious about my health nowadays. Having feasted on pure fat and cholesterol (those sisig feasts at Mang Jimmy’s back in college and the greasy Teriyaki Boy food I get to chow down every week) could surely have clogged some of my arteries). Not to mention a gut that sticks out.

I would rather play some ball but with all the rains lately, the village park has been constantly riddled with puddles. So with one last swipe of my debit card, I decided to purchase an exercise machine. It was sale over at JB Sports. I was supposed to get an elliptical trainer but alas, they’ve ran out of stock of the cheaper ones. A recumbent bike was another choice but decided I wouldn’t get to workout my upper body with that.

Not to have another excuse not to get a workout, I decided to one of these stair machines. Sure it focuses on cardio and lower body strength but I could readily couple with with some free weights. Got the machine quite cheap too because of the sale - almost a third of what I’d spend for a strider.

I tried it out this morning with. Just fifteen minutes and my thighs were screaming already - that’s how badly out of shape I am. Anyway, I got to burn around 200 calories today. Not bad since that’s almost what I burn shooting hoops for 45 minutes.

Now to just watch my calorie intake again.

    Mang Jimmy’s FTW!

Also, I think cutting on rice would help. I stopped eating rice since I changed jobs. And strangely, despite the fact that I eat mcdo burgers everyday now I’m actually losing weight. *shrug*
