The problem with people with repressed childhoods (like me) is that we tend to overcompensate when we finally gain some independence and get some spare change from our wee salaries. I guess it runs in the family too. I remember my dad buying me an airsoft pistol only for him to play with it more than I had. (Oh yeah, he’ll be dead for eight years now in a few days.)
Anyway, people have been overly critical of my extreme miserliness. I rarely buy stuff and never spend a cent I wouldn’t earn back immediately or in a bad investment (not that I haven’t made a few, and surely, these drove me to wits’ end). Spending, for me, is a sin. My greatest luxury has always been treating my Dearest to something. I rarely buy clothes, gadgets, other effects and doohickeys for myself.

I haven’t really written about it, but I like watching hockey. It’s probably one of the sports that I haven’t tried my hand out ever (primarily due to the lack of ice) but I like watching it. The pace, the hits, the fights, the drama…
I’ve been a Colorado Avalanche fan ever since I started watching the NHL about (oh my God!) eleven years ago and as always, I’m rooting for them. I think Joe Sakic and Peter Forsberg deserve another title run as they contemplate the rest of their careers.
The first round is nearly done and over with, with my Avs currently in a standoff with the Minnesota Wild at 2-2. The rest of the contenders are still battling it out with the Pittsburgh Penguins the only team assured of Round 2 so far.
Got to share this playoffs coverage promo. I like the personification. View the video after the cut.

After almost a week of not being able to sort things out with my web hosting provider, my site’s fully functional again. I can now access my subdomains (which I use for the forums and my English learning blog) and my FTP. (What good is one’s site if the administrator can’t access it via FTP?)
But I’d have to say, this has got to be part of the whole collection of horror stories of people with (supposedly) the country’s top web hosting provider. Crummy technical support and false advertising (as of this writing my uptime tracker says: 85.7143% uptime contrary to their claims of 99.99%) can surely piss me off.
If this is just Pareto principle at work then I am very much disappointed.

I apologize to the few constant readers of this blog. My web host crapped out again and this site was down for a span of more or less 72 hours.
I would have blogged on a few things over the weekend but thanks to crappy web hosting service that wasn’t meant to be. I’ll be busy the whole week and the only blogging I’ll be doing will be for LifeSpy and Autojab.
I’m still trying to resolve a few issues with whatever they did to my site. But I’d have to say that I am very dissatisfied customer.
Again, I apologize and thanks for dropping by.

I really appreciate Leerz’s work on the Noob.Killer tool (which has evolved from simply getting rid of the Taga Lipa Are virus to covering threats such as Baguio Strawberry). And I also appreciate him using my site for updates and announcements even if my site isn’t really a tech site.
Anyway, here’s another update to that famed tool of his. Aside from a few UI tweaks and added features, it now covers the following threats:
- Taga Lipa Are/Hacked By Godzilla (and it’s other Variants)
- Baguio Strawberry Worm
- Yahoo! Worm (Sohanad)
- Krag.exe (I’m Not The Only One)
- Destrukto
- w32dranyam
- Funny UST Scandal(Avi).exe
- SilentSoftech
- Knight
- VBS Capiz
- Thank You!! WinZip123
- iloveher.exe
- display monitor.exe
- ImgKulot (and it’s other variants)
Take note that some of these buggers haven’t been really addressed by bigwig security software companies like Norton, McAffee, and even the free AVG. So kudos and many thanks to Leerz for building something great and free for us Pinoys! Download and release details can be found on Leerz’s site.
